About Us

Wilkison International was founded to sell investment quality rare gold coins of the world.  The late Dr. John E. Wilkison, who began his numismatic journey in 1934, and his son, John Wilkison, founded Wilkison and Son in 1972, which became Wilkison International in 1989.  John's son, Jay Wilkison, has recently joined the company as Business Manager and Head of Sales.

As the most recent issue of Whitmans Encyclopedia of United States Gold Coins states, "John Wilkison built the finest collection of U.S. gold patterns ever assembled outside the Mint . . . The collection formed the basis for David Aker's 1975 book United States Gold Patterns, a modern numismatist's 'wish book'."  Also noted, "In a survey by PCGS, collectors chose the Judd-1776 pattern (the unique 1907 United States Indian Head $20 - the crown jewel of the Wilkison collection) as the greatest coin of all time, beating out the 1933 $20, the Childs 1804 Silver Dollar and other timeless classics.  Pedigrees of the Wilkison collection include Charles Barber, Waldo Newcomer, F.C.C. Boyd, E.H. Adams, Ted Naftzger and King Farouk, to name but a few."  We continue this quest for rarity and excellence and would like to share it with you.

We are members of the ANA, ANS, PNG, NGC, PCGS and other state and regional coin associations.
